WI Produce Auctions/Growers

IFM/WI Auctions

IFM partners with produce auctions to supply institutions with large volumes of fresh, locally-grown produce. At this time, IFM works primarily with Badgerland Produce Co-op Auction, but both Fennimore Produce Auction and Growers’ Produce Auction, Cashton, are eager to supply large volume institutional buyers and also have delivery. (See WI Produce Auction Map for the auction nearest you).

WI Auctions

WI produce auctions aggregate fruit and produce from a large number of growers and make it available through auction two to three times per week from May through October. Auctions last approximately two hours, and sell both conventional and certified organic fruit and produce. Membership at auction is minimal and you do not need to be a member to sell or buy at auction. All growers must follow USDA guidelines for grading, as well as auction packing and handling protocols. Contact the auction nearest you for further details and (see Auction Information).

Growers Wanted

Would you like to expand? Are you looking for new sales outlets? Would you like to make some money with idle land that is going unused? Do you have surplus product that you typically plow under? Selling through a produce auction is an excellent way to expand your business and increase your sales.

In response to IFM and Badgerland’s partnership efforts, auction sales have dramatically increased in the last several years. Badgerland Produce Co-op Auction is seeking new growers for their auction and pre-priced program in 2009 and beyond. All growers must use USDA grading standards, Badgerland packing boxes, and follow auction protocols. You do not need to be a member to sell your products through auction.

If you are interested in finding out more about selling through Badgerland and are located in Dane County, please contact Olivia Parry at 608-266-4270, or parry@co.dane.wi.us. If you are located outside of Dane County, contact Mary Jean Reading, Auction Manager, at 920-858-7785.

Please note - IFM works to connect large volume institutional buyers with WI produce auctions. If you are interested in selling wholesale in significant volumes, please contact the produce auction nearest you. As IFM expands, we look forward to sharing our expertise with any and all interested producers seeking to sell to institutional markets.
